The Journey

On the 21st of July we depart Sydney to fly to Almaty in Kazakhstan via Istanbul. During the next 4 weeks we plan to cycle through 4 countries - Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Tadjikstan and Uzbekistan. We hope to cover a distance of approximatedly 1600kms and will cycle through geographic formations that vary from the Tien Shan ranges or "The heavens mountains" to the Ferghana Valley and then in to Uzbekistan. We will be using mountain bikes carrying all the cooking, camping, clothing and repair equipment on our bikes. The planned trip is marked by the red line and all going well we hope to be in Bukhara around the 14th of August.
